A new poll by the respected German pollster INSA for the major newspaper Bild measured which party leader voters trusted most on the major issues. Either the traditional conservative CDU or the populist nationalist anti-immigration AfD came out on top in every category with the other party of the right in second place.
After the Christmas market terror attack, this has been called "the immigration election". On the issue of handling immigration, AfD leader Alice Weidel was the most trusted at 41%, followed by the CDU's Friedrich Merz came in second at 19%. All other parties were in single digits.
When it came to cutting taxes for individuals, the AfD's Weidel again led at 20% but on cutting business taxes, the CDU led at 28% followed by AfD second at 19%. On stimulating the economy, the CDU again led at 26% followed by Weidel of the AfD second at 19%. Also 29% did not trust any party to reduce taxes.
At a recent conference, the AfD outlined a 3 point plan for their firest 100 days centered on remigration (the favored European term for deporting illegal aliens), cutting taxes, and restarting Germany's nuclear power plants and coal power plants while phasing out wind turbines.
The party is also pledged to cut green regulations such as on farmers and to reestablish a national currency to replace the euro. Polls showed individual Germans were heavily opposed to giving up their Deutsch Mark to go to the euro but their CDU government at the time refused to give them the referendum on the issue that some other EU countries got.

This may be Germany's last chance to survive as Germany. I hope they get it right in this election. The key is a post-election alliance of the right. The CDU is talking a much better game than they have in years, but a CDU / AfD caolition is all that can save the country.

It has been several days since a deranged left-wing lunatic attempted to assassinate President Trump and other members of his administration and yet Roy Cooper is STILL silent out of fear of alienating his base, who is perfectly okay with violence.
