Tennessee advances legislation to require schools to verify immigration status of students | Eastern NC Now

senate version would deny enrollment or require tuition

ENCNow

Tennessee is tackling the problem of schools being overrun with illegal aliens with new legislation.  A bill that is working its way through the legislature would require public and charter schools to verify the immigration status of all of their students.

The bill has already passed the state senate and just was reported out favorably from committee in the House.  The senate version adds another wrinkle.  It would deny enrollment to those in the country illegally unless they pay tuition.

The ultimate problem however is an outlandish US Supreme Court decision that purports to require states to educate foreign students.

Illegal aliens are a huge burden on the American taxpayer, and education is a big part of that. It is time taxpayers got some relief from that burden.

We need to do this in NC and in Beaufort County. Great idea, Tennessee!

At minimum, we need to be able to establish how much illegal aliens are costing our school system and our taxpayers. Then maybe North Carolina needs to sue each of the countries where the illegal aliens come from for the cost of that education.
