On May 10, 2014 Investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit arrested Kevin Damek Towns, age 30, of 400 Warren Chapel Church Road in Chocowinity. Towns' arrest stemmed from Investigators conducting controlled purchases of cocaine and marijuana.

On December 19th, 2013, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of Breaking & Entering and Larceny from a residence on Hassell Avenue in Washington, NC. Deputies responded to the scene and learned that several firearms were stolen from the residence.
