Temperatures are climbing this week as summer arrives, and the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for most of Central and Eastern North Carolina.

All Beaufort County emergency personnel are monitoring the weather and making the appropriate preparations. We are advising anyone who does not have to be on the roadways during the weekend to please not do so

Happy to say that for most of us we got a brief break from the heat thanks to the Thunderstorms of last night.

I think based on the current forecast, we have a possibility of spotty (protected or elevated) roadway conditions that could lend themselves to the formation of "Black Ice" in the early morning hours tomorrow.

Enjoy the weather now because in twenty-four hours it will not look like this. I just got off the phone with the NWS and they informed me that they may or may not issue a winter weather advisory for travel beginning 4:00pm tomorrow, Saturday.
