When I am in a business and the young person at the cash register has trouble figuring out the change, it is clear that the Common Core math they have been teaching is not working to give them an ability to do even simple math. In spite of this, the Beaufort County School Board just bought another Common Core math curriculum, and this one also has "woke" DEI embedded in it as well.
Your points about evaluation are excellent. This needs to be done in all schools. We also need to evaluate the superintendant with measurable standards on academic performance, and principals as well. And most of all, we need a new school board majority attuned to actually doing something to improve our schools instead of just being sock puppets for the superintendant.

What is really causing deforestation? Land intensive "green" wind and solar electric operations. In Scotland, according to the government's forestry agency, 13.1 million trees have been cut down, just on govenrment land, and not including those cut on private land, to put up wind and solar "farms". Ancient forests in German are under constant attack to put up wind and solar, from the famed Black Forest in the south to the Reinhardtswald, the ancient forest that was the setting of Grimms Fairy Tales in the north, and many in between. Great swaths of the the Amazon Rain Forest, called the "lungs of the planet" are being clear cut for balsa wood for wind turbine blades.
The carbon cult nazis want to destroy lots of trees to put up their wind and solar eyesores, but blames farms for human food for "global warming". That is pure BS.

The private sector does darn near anything better than government, and that includes education. Private schools, on average, spend less per pupil than public schools but achieve much better education results. Those opportunities should be there for all students, not just children of the rich. The teachers union and much of the education establishment is injecting political indoctrination into public schools. A poll last year in North Carolina found that 71% of North Carolina parents are concerned about political indoctrination in the public schools. Competition makes everything better and that includes schools.

One big thing that has contributed to forest fires over the past 20 years is some misguided environmentalists getting policies changed to not cut out underbrush like they used to. That means when a fire gets started, it spreads more efficiently, which is not a good thing. The data shows that most forest fires are caused by humans, often by arson, not natural causes like lightning.

France, which is mostly nuclear powered for its electricity has electric rate less than half of those of neighboring wind and solar obsessed Germany. Wind and solar also produce a lot of environmental harm, and true environmentalists in Germany regularly file lawsuits to stop wind and solar, particularly wind, projects.

Scotland's government forestry office has calculated that 13.1 million trees have been cut down just on government land, not counting private land, in Scotland to build wind turbines and solar farms. That does not even count the rest of the UK, either. The "Green" Party government of the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg is turning parts of the Black Forest to sawdust to build wind farms. Real environmentalists have been called "tree huggers" for many years but those in the climate carbon cult seem to be tree haters. It is not just the Amazon, but the Climate-Industrial Complex is causing deforestation all over the world.
If they were really concerned about CO2, cutting trees down would be stupid since trees absorb CO2 in the photosynthesis process and give off oxygen. But honest scientists will tell you that CO2 has nothing to do with climate in the first place. It is a very minor greenshouse gas, and the greenhouse effect is essential to life on Earth. The most important greenhouse gas is water vapor, which accounts for over 90% of the greenhouse effect.

The LIttle Ice Age was the cool period that preceded our present natural warming period. The Little Ice Age corresponded with the Maunder Minimum of low sun spot activity. When solar radiation levels changed on Earth due to fewer sun spots, it got colder, and when sun spot activity perked up again, it got warmer. It did not have a darn thing to do with CO2 or the greenhouse effect.
Prior to the Little Ice Age was the Medival Warm Period, when it was warmer than today. There was also a centuries long warm period during the height of the Roman Empire. The longest and hottest warm period was the Holocene Maximum when it was much warmer than today for 3,000 years and with no bad outcomes. Your comment about temperatures rising would have been AFTER the Little Ice Age.

The climate alarmist scientists have also been caught scheming to cover up facts and data that disprove their theory in the Climategate emails The last multi-century cycle of global warming, the Medieval Warm Period came to a natural end and went into a cooling cycle, the Little Ice Age. I have yet to hear the climate alarmist scientists try to explain how CO2 and such "caused" the Medieval Warm Period, when it was warmer than it is today and nothing bad happened as a result. In fact, it was a period of great wealth and human progress. Maybe the climate alarmists might claim it was horse farts from all those knights riding around? Or take the granddaddy of all warm cycles, the Holocene Maximum, when it was MUCH warmer than today for 3,000 years. That coincided with the Bronze Age of human development and the heyday of ancient Greek civilization. We know from ancient Greek history that there were no bad outcomes from that warm period. While there are other scientists with a political or personal financial agenda (climate alarmism makes for lots of government grant money for them) who claim otherwise, it was shown they are scammers when their emails were hacked in Climategate.
Long time climate science has shown that the Earth goes through centuries long warming and cooling cycles. The last cooling cycle, which was particularly cold compared to others, was known as the Little Ice Age or the Maunder Minimum and ended in the 19th century. Earth has been in a natural warming cycle, that has nothing to do with CO2 or cow farts, since then. There are also shorter term natural warming and cooling cycles like El Nino and La Nina that last a year or two or three. It is all a natural process not manmade. Climate alarmism is a cult, the largest doomsday cult the world has ever seen, and its members really ought to get professional help to be deprogrammed. Here's looking at you, Little Bobbie.

Wind and solar electricity are a consumer ripoff and lead to much higher electric rates as well as more blackouts. In North Carolina, a power play by a group of RINOs pushed through Roy Cooper's policy on the Green New Deal, stabbing their own constituents in the back. The local state senator, Jim Perry, was up to his eyeballs in this scam. We have already seen our first electric rate increase of 18% as a result, and that is just the beginning, barely scratching the surface on what is coming for electric ratepayers.
Perry needs a real Republican as a primary opponent.

"Green energy" is a scandal in itself. THe only thing "green" about it is the green money that flows into the pockets of the grifters who promote it.Green energy is much more expensive and much less reliable than conventional power. Both wind and solar are land intensive and have led to vast deforestation, which only in an Orwellian sense could be passed off as "green". That deforestation not only includes the sites where the wind and solar "farms" are built, but also vast swaths of the Amazon, known as the "lungs of the planet" which are being clear cut for balsa wood for wind turbine blades.
Here in North Carolina, the scoundrels behind pushing our own green new deal include Phil Berger and Jim Perry in the state senate and Tim Moore in the state house.

Pitt and Hodges have been on the council with Sadler and seen that he does not handle someone questioning or disagreeing with his policy very well. Sadler would all too often just refuse to call on Bobby Roberson at all and at one meeting loudly threatened to have the police remove Bobby from the meeting (which would have been illegal if Sadler had followed through on it). Do either of them have the backbone to stand up to a power obsessed mayor who behaves like Idi Amin? I have my doubts.
You're right, Washingtonian. It is going to be up to taxpayers to keep an eye on our city government, and we must remember that the Sddler bunch just refuses to respond to FOIA requests if he wants to cover something up. That is the opposite of transparency.

I don't see either Hodges or Pitt having the backbone to do that. They may not vote with Sadler on the more egregious things, but is either likely to have the sorts of confrontations with him that Bobby did over improprieties Sadler was up to? The greenhouse effect is what keeps Earth warm enough to support life, plant and animal. Without it, this would be a cold, dead, planet. If the greenshouse effect suddenly stopped, we would all be dead instantly, along with all other animals and plants.
CO2 is a very minor greenhouse gas. The most imporant greenhouse gas is water vapor which accounts for ninety percent of the greenhouse effect. Changes in the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere is regulated by solar radiation. That is why periods of low sun spot activity like the Maunder Minimum have also been very cold periods on Earth climatologically. Some astronomers are predicting a period of low sun spot activity in the near future, so maybe it would actually be beneficial to have some other greenhouse gases present to partly make up for the decrease in water vapor.

You are right that the "green energy" movement is not environmaentally friendly. A good example is the government of Baden-Wurttemberg in Germany, led by the "Green Party" turning the Black Forest into sawdust to put up their wind turbines. Or the Scottish government cutting down 13.1 million trees on government land, according to figures by their government forestry service, to build wind farms and solar farms. True environmentalists are often suing to stop these wind and solar monstrosities, like the lawsuit in Germany that has, at least for now, saved the ancient Reinhardswald forest, the setting of Brahms Fairy Tales, from being clear cut for wind turbines.
