You might want to tell that to Disney stockholders, for example. Their stock values have tanked as the companies profits decline. When a company's stock is down 44% in a year, they are headed in the direction of "broke". chipandco.com

Gender dysphoria should be added to the list of mental health conditions that prevent issuance of gun permits. These people are clearly prone to violence and terrorism. For that matter they should not be allowed to have any items that could be used for terrorism - knives, explosives, axes, hatchets, etc. This week there was a killing of 5 students in a school in Brazil by a nutjob with a hatchet (no word if he was transgender).

This is little help to consumers after the RINOs screwed us with NC's Green New Deal last year. That has already caused a double digit electric rate increase, which is likely to be the first of many if we look at other places that have rammed wind and solar down consumers throats. Local RINO Jim Perry was a big player in screwing consumers on that.

Now we have a frivolous prosecution based on the same claims debunked in civil court. Will the Soros-owned thug Alvin Bragg be held accountable? Bragg needs more than being required to pay money. He needs time in prison for trying to abuse power to influence an election.

This should be the final straw. The America we knew does not exist any more. It is past time for a division of the country between those that still share American values and those which are irretrievable globalist. Those states that tolerate such political witch trials like New York need to be in a different country than states that respect the rule of law and do not try to arrest political opponents on trumped up fake charges. Those states which still espouse traditional American values should hook up with those Canadian provinces involved in the Wexit (western exit) movement in Canada which want to be out from under Trudeau's bootheal. Common values no longer hold the 50 US states together.

With a crooked prosecutor handpicking a judge whose daughter is a consultant for the Biden campaign to handle this case, the whole system in Manhattan just reeks of corruption. But, as Dershowitz points out all the judges there have similar heavy political bias, so getting a fair ruling on a motion, much less a fair trial there is impossible. We should NOT be in the same country as these Stalinists in New York.

That article "The Day America Became Russia" from The European Conservative linked in the post says it all. It is worse than a banana republic. We are now the United Soviet States of America (USSA). Even folks across the Atlantic can see what is being done to us.

Keith Kidwell and Frankie Waters? That is a REAL political odd couple. Kidwell is always pushing to cut taxes and cut spending, while Frankie Waters is a big spender who likes to keep our taxes higher than they ought to be. Keith Kidwell was all over the radio running ads to support Scott Hammonds for sheriff, while Waters contributed to the Democrat candidate for sheriff. What gives?

I was a big fan of Mark Robinson when he ran for his current office. He is a first rate orator and hit all the right conservative notes. He started off great on the education issues, but he stopped, not even attending state school board meetings for months. A governor's appointees are key to his success. They are what made Jim Martin a great governor and Pat McCrory a poor one. Robinson has a rather small staff as Lt. Governor but his appointments there have been less than impressive. Most importantly, Robinson was asleep at the switch when RINOs pushed major left wing legislation including the Obamacare Medicaid expansion and the NC Green New Deal through the legislature. A group of conservative energy experts actually met with Robinson on contesting the Green New Deal but Robinson refused to get involved. Dale Folwell, on the other hand has shown as State Treasurer that he knows how to properly staff government with competent conservatives and he knows how to use the levers of power to push conservative policy. Talk is great with Robinson but it is Folwell who shows he can actually push conservative policy successfully.

Speaker Tim Moore never allowed the Parents Bill of Rights to come to the floor for a vote. After it passed the Senate, Moore used his power as Speaker to see that it stayed bottled up in committee until adjournment. Moore did Democrats a huge favor in doing that because that way, their members in close races did not have to vote on it, but he screwed his own candidates doing that.

The question is whether he will pull a similar stunt this time and kill it again. There is little doubt that his Deputy Chief of Staff is pushing for that, which would be a total betrayal of GOP voters.

Tim Moore and also Phil Berger are a "Fifth Column" within the GOP - the enemy within.

Offshore wind is some of the most expensive there is to produce and will cause our electric bills to skyrocket. It also damages our commercial fishing industry and our coastal tourism industry, and slaughters seabirds, dolphins, and whales. This is a VERY BAD deal for North Carolina.

Commented on Go woke, go broke

When bank officials care more about left wing politics than sound economics, it breaks banks as it did Silicon Valley Bank. This bank had its top corporate risk assessement position vacant for almost a year, and the risk assessment people they did have in place were spending all their time on DEI and ESG, or in other words, on far left politics.

Even the major British newspapers were reporting how "woke" Silicon Valley Bank was. Why can't leftwing commenters like Bobbie manage to figure that out? Do they assume that the only "truth" is derived from the leftwing narrative?

The problem is that we have big government "Republicans" in the leadership positions, Speaker Tim Moore, and Senate president pro tem Phil Berger, both of whom are in the hip pocket of the Big Medicine special interests. In addition we have a group of other special interest Repubicans who do the bidding of Big Medicine like Reps. Tim Reeder and Jon Hardister and Sen. Jim Perry. All of them look out for the special interests, especially Big Medicine, and not the people.

Commented on Go woke, go broke

Only one member of SVB's board had banking experience. The rest were political hacks, and the bank was eaten up by woke ESG and DEI. Bailing out the depositers was a travesty. But many banks are eaten up by woke and are playing the same destructive ESG and DEI games. The rest way to protect our banking system is to prohibit banks from playing the DEI and ESG games with our money.

SVB spent $74 million on the Marxist organization BLM and on radical left "social justice" causes. redstate.com

You might want to try to tell that to the 4 wind energy companies in Ontario under criminal indictment for multiple felonies of polluting the ground water or the wind energy company in Scotland whose pollution of a river killed many thousands of fish and led to a five million suro environmental fine from the EU. As usual, you consider the leftwing narrative as "the truth" but it is NOT.

It is disgusting that our RINO big spender House Speaker Tim Moore and our RINO big spender Senate President Phil Berger betrayed Republican voters to sell out to leftwing governr Roy Cooper on the Obamacare Medicaid expansion boondoggle. This will be a huge budget buster in coming years. Locally, we need to never forget that our own local state senator, RINO big spender Jim Perry was one of the leading supporters of this outrageous boondoggle, as was RINO big spender state rep. Tim Reeder next door in Pitt County. Conservative voters need to replace both of those scalawags in the next primary. Throw the bums O-U-T ! Our own state rep. Keith Kidwell was one of the heros in fighting against this despicable boondoggle, not just voting against it, which he did, but also helping lead the fight against it. Primary voters should never forget who the good guys and bad guys were on this terrible piece of legislation.

Big Bob fits right in with Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, and lots of other dictators who took away guns for people control. It is a necessity to establish a dictatorship. The New York Times published an article in the mid 1930s about how one German state had to take the guns away from the Jewish people because the Jewish people were shooting Nazis, and they reported that nonsense with a straight face. Then in 1938, Hitler's Reich gun law took guns away from everybody. I'll bet those Jewish folks wished they still had their guns when the Gestapo came to send them to the camps. While criminals should not have guns, only totalitarians want to take them from law abiding citizens.

"Hold Beaufort County back"????? You sound like a liberal big spending type, NOT a conservative. While I do not agree with any politician on every little thing they do, Richardson has been a stalwart for the taxpayers, fighting to lower our taxes and cut wasteful spending. It is the sell out "Republicans" led by Frankie Waters who collude with the Democrats to keep our taxes high and spend like drunken sailors. I do not know or care about all the inside baseball stuff about what Dunn did or did not do, but what happened with the school security was that Ernie Coleman pulled the plug on the sheriff's department doing that, and the school board plugged the gap. I agree we need to get back to the sheriff doing it, and now that we have a new sheriff who wants to do it, I hope that can be done as soon as possible. It is better security for the children and better value for the taxpayers.

This is part of the steady march to an authoritarian single payer system like Canada or the UK with horrendous waiting lists for people to get care. ECU Health is part of Big Medicine in promoting this. Republican lawyers who voted for this left wing wet dream should be ashamed of themselves. Yes, thats you Jim Perry, Tim Reeder, John Bell, Chris Humphreys. Shame on you. You are involuntarily transfering hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians who now have private health insurance onto the government dole at the taxpayers expense. If they qualify by income for Medicaid, they have to get Medicaid, and can no longer keep their private health insurance, and that sometimes means they cannot keep their doctor. Taxpayers are also being screwed to the wall to pay for this. Big Medicine is an enemy of American freedom, and Republican sellouts who voted for this bill are traitors to Republican voters.

This is something we need right here in North Carolina. The private sector has done a much better job with education than the public schools and they have done it with less money. We need more schools like Terra Ceia and Pungo and fewer like the failing Beaufort County Schools.

Climate alarmism is a prime example of President Eisenhower's warning in his Farewell Address about a "scientific-technological elite" getting control of public policy.

Here are President Eisenhower's words, immediately after his warning of a "military-industrial comples":

"Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades.

In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.

Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been over shadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers.

The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded.

Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite."

The attacks on Fox News are part of a pattern of attacks by the left on media which does not toe their political line, and is a major attack on American democracy. Woke corporations cutting OneAmericaNews and NewsMax off of cable systems at the behest of their Democrat buddies (shades of the corporate state) is another example, as is Biden's State Department funding an organization that promoted advertiser boycotts of conservative news sites. The Biden regime really tipped their hand when they tried to set up a Ministry of Truth. While Biden accuses Republicans of attacking democracy, his regime are the hypocrites who are actually doing it.

Residents of Beaufort, Craven, and Lenoir counties need to remember that it was uber-RINO Sen. Jim Perry who pushed hard for NC's Green New Deal, whose mandates have already led to a double digit electric rate increase with MUCH more to come. Our voters need to dump this special interest operative in the next primary. Perry also just screwed us on the Obamacare Medicaid expansion, a ultra liberal bill he pushed for to help the special interests.

Exxon's board was infiltrated by rabid climate alarmists. That was engineered by Larry Fink (an apt last name), CEO of woke financial firm Blackrock at Exxon's last shareholder meeting. Fink voted the proxies of the many state pension funds that Blackrock manages to force these eco-loons onto the board. That is why a parade of states, including North Carolina is either removing Blackrock as manager of their state pension funds or at least taking those proxies away from them. Fink is very active in Klaus Schwab's totalitarian World Economic Forum.

Conservatives want to protect children from genital mutilation. Liberals decry genital mutilation in Africa but promote it for children here. Or take the ACLU, which denounces use of chemical castration drugs on convicted rapists but demands those very same dangerous drugs be made availible for use on confused children who have committed no crime.

Commented on You can change this

The School Board did NOT "investigate" 28 curricula. That is apparently the number the ultra-liberal Cooper-controlled state Board of Education approved, all "woke" to one degree or another. Superintendant Cheeseman handpicked a committee of school staff (NOT the school board members) who selected this SAVVAS curriculum and that was the only one presented to the school board, take it or leave. It was like a Soviet ballot - only one choice, yes or no. This is incredibly arrogant for staff to treat the elected decision making body this way.

It was refreshing to see our new conservative school board members do their own research on SAVVAS, which is easy enough to do these days with a computer. It is a very "woke" company, which even had its MATH curriculum rejected in Florida for being injected with "woke". A controversy in Arizona over SAVVAS' science curriculum that claimed that there are more than two genders even made the British newspaper.

Do I detect a little sour grapes on your own loss in the School Board race?

What is costing American and European taxpayers and electric rate payers a boatload of money is the climate alaermism nonsense. Dozens of the dire warnings of the climate alarmist charlatans have already passed their "use by" date and not a one of them has come true or even come close to being true. Climate alarmism is the biggest doomsday cult in history, Chicken Little on steroids. Climategate should have exposed for all what frauds they are.

Hardly "access to health care". What Obamacare Medicaid expansion does is push 120,000 North Carolinians who now have private health insurance, mostly as a benefit of their job onto the Medicaid dole instead. It makes those 120,000 North Carolinians no longer eligible for private health insurance and forces them onto a welfare type program. Many doctors who take private insurance do not take Medicaid, so that will deprive some of them of their doctors. This does these 120,000 North Carolinians no favors.

Oh, and North Carolina has just been informed that we will have to pay the feds another billion dollars a year for the state's part of Medicaid.

This is about making people dependant on government, not about providing better health care, and it stinks. Those Republican legislators who betrayed North Caorlina on this will never get my vote.

I wonder if Beaufort County Schools is teaching some form of Common Core Math, often by a different name so they can claim "it is not Common Core Math". Teaching that garbage might explain some of the unacceptable math scores in Beaufort County, although we are fortunately not nearly as bad as Baltimore.

Phil Berger and Tim Moore are spendthrifts for backing this taxpayer ripoff Medicaid expansion. They are betraying the taxpayers of North Carolina. So is that Jim Perry. How did we ever get stuck with him as our senator, anyway? Every major issue he touches, he seems to act more like a Democrat. Hopefully our state representatives will continue to stand up for our taxpayers. Keith Kidwell has been a real hero on helping stop this bad legislation.
