Anyone living in Beaufort County should hang their head in shame over the way Nick Fritz was forced to resign by his political adversaries sending their goon squad first to his restaurant to harass his customers and employees and then to his home to intimidate his children. What kind of a city is Washington and what kind of county do we live in?
I see from Washingtonian's comment that we are not alone, with a GOP local government candidate's home in Mecklenburg County being used as a shooting gallery, compelling him to resign his nomination. Is this America or a banana republic? |

From what I saw from Randy Walker and his wife Carolyn Walker at the Chocowinity / Gilead polling place on the last election day, this just not surprise me at all.

A new school isn’t going to fix the disappointing results from WPS With a declining population why build some giant monstrosity - scale it back and use the money to improve performance in all the city schools. It’s frankly embarrassing- people complain about Washington being over run with retirees when the fact of the matter is - who would move here with school age children. Seems like they like new shiny onjectsbwirh big price tags instead of student performance.

I attended the trial against Paul Varcoe. What a sham that was. What a waste of tax payer dollars. Hood Richardson and Tandy Dunn perjured themselves on the stand. Also at no time did Paul Varcoe admit to hitting Hood Richardson. Hood’s behavior at the convention as well as at Executive Committee Meetings was atrocious. Hood even threatened a woman who was helping serve food. Hood has been known to call women stupid and ignorant. Is this the behavior of an Elected official. I Don’t Think So!

Van Zant, I am just a voter in Beaufort County who observes what is going on from the outside. What I see in the Republican Party are some wonderful volunteers who work hard and have the best interests of the County and Country in mind. The Hate is not coming from the Party but from the PAC. What I saw was fraudulent negative signs and banners all over the County. I see a Commissioner name calling and disrupting meetings. That doesn’t make him correct or honest. That just makes him loud and obnoxious.,

First off Stan the school may cost 52 million but 42 million is coming from lottery money. Also as per FERPA laws even children over 16 are minors until they graduate. The police did not want to get involved because yes the students were stupid but most of them left when the few decided to get crazy. Restitution is being made for damages and most of the kids have offered to volunteer their time. Punishment has been given. My thoughts( I know you don’t like outside thoughts on here unless they agree with you) however my thoughts are hopefully they have learned their lessons and they or future seniors will realize it was wrong. I’m sure most of you have done stupid things in your life. Leave it to the authorities.

It happened at the College. Disciplinary actions were taken with the teacher. There is such a thing as privacy such as the HIPPA laws. The school board does not control the College. Try going to a meeting instead of getting your information from Hood Richardson and his cronies.
