I would like to know from Mr. Rader how active the teacher union is in Beaufort County?

Did the voting community of Washington not vote in the members of both boards that you seem to have such an issue with? I seem to remember that the husband/wife members you are speaking of were just part of the ballot and they were reelected. If this was such an issue, should this have not been looked at prior to the election? I had been following the page for a while, but it seems that recently it is just targeted attacks at certain individuals.

The opposition to building a new school with a $42 million state grant seems misguided to the growth of our community. While Beaufort County must contribute $10 million, the project is estimated to be under its $52 million budget. Other counties are moving forward with similar projects - Martin County is building a new high school and Washington County recently opened a K-12 school. Why should Beaufort County return this grant money and miss the opportunity to improve our infrastructure?
Having volunteered at Eastern Elementary, I've witnessed firsthand why replacement is necessary. I encourage those that oppose the building to spend a day reading to some of the children to experience the classrooms and the building for themselves. The concerns about cross-town busing are unfounded given the compact size of the city school district. Most Eastern Elementary students live nearby, and this commute is notably shorter than what high school students already manage with their extended schedules.
A more pressing concern is the suspicious timing of the four-acre property ownership change, which was close to the timing of the grant award. Why has that been discussed by the commissioners?

It should surprise no one that Biden would oppose such a bill. Otherwise, what would be the point of he and his Demon-Crats allowing MILLIONS of Illegal Aliens to freely enter our land and supporting them with whatever they need? Buying Votes -- Buying Votes!

From the article: "Voting for Trump is not a moral option. It is a matter of civic duty. It is an act of democratic defiance against a political system that has become dangerously, structurally, morally corrupt."

I agree. My wife agrees. (She was the first Trump believer in the family)

When the illicit "verdict" was handed down, my wife asked me to go online and find us a TRUMP flag. When the flag arrived this week, I brought down our American flag and hoisted the new TRUMP flag. "TRUMP 2024 Save America Again!"

Don't confuse my intentions with those who wish to destroy America. I think the America I believe in is in great peril. I served America in the U.S. Army. I believe in America. I think America is the greatest country in the world. Well . . . I did . . . until first Barack Obama and now Joe Biden (under Obama's puppeteer control) took the reins of this once great nation.

Folks, the 2024 election is critically important. After his first term, TRUMP now knows who the snakes are (certainly including RINOs), he knows how they operate, and he knows where they hide. He just needs to finish the job and flush them out for all to see.

God Bless America and God Bless Donald J. Trump!

My wife and I have friends who left United and went with Global. It's concerning and sad when congregations don't agree and run off to start a new church. (non-Biblical disagreements) But when a large church body (national / international conference) shoots its own self in the foot [so to speak] and drives off huge numbers of their people, it's particularly saddening.

We are told in the Bible that God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His sacred Word hasn't changed. And at end of the Revelation, it's even clearly stated that anyone who adds to or takes away from the Word will be judged severely.

Other churches also change their directions, but this is not acceptable in God's sight when it comes to Biblical matters. We are even warned by the early Apostles that wolves will come in sheep's clothing. Happened Then - Still Happening Today.

The new city manager might have helped a slight bit with your taxes but if you read his budget plan in it's entirety you will soon see that he's making up for it in charging the people higher inspection fees, higher electric, water & sewer bills, ect....

This new city manager has a reputation of taking on cities in distress.
In Camden SC which is a town smaller than Washington, he increased water & sewer up to twenty percent, then went after the retirees health insurance.
In Peachtree City Georgia his phrases were "we can't be all things to all people" and "cutting sacred cows when needed." Which sounds like some of the same phrases he's using here in Washington!"
In Peachtree City he cut senior services, library hours, pool & fieldhouse hours,no more city spring clean up, closed the city Convention & Visitors Bureau and a city clerk position. He took out twelve full time & six part time positions all the while his pay check was getting fatter. At that time he was the highest paid city manager in the state of Georgia! He doesn't care about Washington just like he never cared about any other city he's worked at! He only cares about collecting a BIG fat paycheck!

She's had reactions from the mRNA poison! Myocarditis is one of the main symptoms that killed one of my close family members. If people can't see yet the harms that this mRNA poison has done to humanity, then I don't really know what else will. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE!!! GOD says in Hosea 4:6 my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge!

While I've no doubt that this article is well-intentioned, it nonetheless denotes a gross misunderstanding of SB 664. And let me establish here and now that I am not among the "vested special interests" within North Carolina. What I am is a social worker with 7 years of experience working in rape crisis and domestic violence agencies throughout North Carolina. What this article fails to point out is that SB 664 establishes eligibility criteria that only 20% of NC counties are currently able to meet-- not due to corruption, but because those agencies are already working on a shoe-string budget to keep the doors open and ensure that survivors of sexual and domestic violence have access to the services they need. At the same time, the bill makes ZERO provisions to help the remaining 80 of our 100 counties meet the eligibility requirements. And we're not talking here about easy-to-meet requirements that involve changes to paperwork. We're talking about requirements that in order to receive state funds, a given county must have a DV shelter. Currently, only 49 of the 100 counties in this state have DV shelters-- again, not because there is not NEED, but because there is not FUNDING. This article makes it sound as if victim service agencies in NC are rolling in cash, when the reality is that most of us are one bad grant season away from having to lay off essential staff or even close our doors. SB 664 will only restrict that funding further and make it harder for us to do our jobs of serving survivors of rape and domestic violence-- because when it comes down to it, those survivors are the ones whose lives hang on this bill. SB 664 is bad policy. Period.

Mr Steed:

TY for your concerns and good commentary.

FYI, prior to HB951 being voted on, I wrote up a detailed Critique of it, and emailed it to every NC Republican legislator. Here is the url .

Some Republican legislators stood up to their leadership (e.g. Larry Pittman, George Cleveland, etc.).

However, despite my attempt to get citizens to speak to their representatives about this, not enough did.

For more info, please send me an email at "aaprjohn" at "northnet" dot "org".

Commented On Voter Fraud
Much of this great country is currently embroiled in the Voter Photo-ID question, an issue that could easily decide the results of a close election. I grew up believing that the United States was founded on certain principles that set it apart from the rest of the nations of the world. In addition to our basic rights, two of these principles stand out above the rest. The first of these tenets i...s that a person accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and the second is the right of all citizens to vote in free elections.

It has often been said that it is better to let 1,000 guilty parties go free than convict a single innocent person. Using the same premise with regard to elections, isn't it better to allow a dozen voters without IDs to cast ballots than to deny even a single person who is otherwise entitled to vote? If we are to err on this issue it should be on the side of over-inclusion, and not unjust exclusion.

Washingtonian's "hope and change" pitch for Armstrong tries to present him as "new" to politics, but Armstrong is NOT. Not too long ago, Armstrong was a registered Democrat in Hyde County, and he did engage in politics there, DEMOCERAT politics. Armstrong was a Marc Basnight Democrat, and wrote big 4 figure checks to Basnight.

It tells you a lot about Armstrong's political ideology that he has never given a nickel to a Republican legislator or legislative candidate but he had no problem writing a big check to Marc Bashight, a notorious liberal power bully. Armstrong may be new to Republican politics but he is not new to politics generally. He is a warmed over Basnight Democrat trying to reinvent himself as a Republican.

No wonder Armstrong does not want to talk about issues. No wonder Washingtonian cannot identify one single issue on which she can try to claim Armstrong has a better, more conservative position than Kidwell.

We have too many useful idiots for the left and the RINOs who ignore real issues and vote on silly personality matters instead.

WE have a conservative Republican with a proven and very solid conservative voting record representing us in Raleigh. Why in the world would we want to replace him with a warmed over Bashight Democrat who was recruited by the RINOs? Serious voters vote on policy and issues, not get their panties in a twist over personalities.

Still can't come up with a single ISSUE you think Armstrong is better on than Kidwell, JV???? That "Christian Zionist" thing did not work any better than MTG's "Jewish Space Lasers".

You and those like you here can only whine about personality and your own hatreds. Most of us are more interested in the issues and policy legislative candidates will push in Raleigh. I see that Washingtonian also cannot seem to come up with a single genuine issue, but just keeps plddling along with that Obama-style "Hope and Change" message.

Lets look at a few issues.

The only policy issue Armstrong mentioned in his announcement was "2nd Amendment" but on the campaign trail, he says he is "pro Second Amendment but not as much as Kidwell". What does that really mean? His three special guests at his fundraiser were opponents of gun rights. Frankie Waters dumped on concealed carry for county employees. Steve Traxler is so hated by gun rights people that the leading state level gun rights group endorsed the Libertarian against him in the last election. Jimmy Dixon is the man who killed Constitutional Carry in last year's legislative session. Armstrong is clearly someone we cannot trust on this issue. Kidwell, on the other hand is one of the strongest voices for gun rights in the legislature.

Or take Shrimpgate, Phil Berger's attempt to destroy our NC shrimp industry to pander to an environmaentalist special interest, the CCA which dangled dollars in front of him. Armstrong has made noises about supporting the shrimpers, and tried to get a shrimper to take him out on the water for a photo op. The shrimper declined because he was running against Kidwell who was one of two key players in saving the shrimp industry from Berger. Armstrong had to settle for taking a picture on land with some shrimp boats in the background. Now, commercial fishermen have become aware that Armstrong was seen in Greenville, out of the district, trying to solicit support and probably money from a key leader of the CCA, the group that is trying to put the shrimpers and other commercial fishermen out of business. How two faced can a politician get?

Kidwell laid out where he stood on the issues when he was first elected, and he has honored his promises. That is the sort of elected official we need. Armstrong doesn't tell you where he stands on much, and when he does, he appears to be speaking with a forked tongue.

Again, I invite you to discuss real ISSUES, not some gibberish about 5D chess and various "guards".

@ 3:06 pm
WE get it, JV. You vote on personality, not issues. Could you name one actual ISSUE where you think Armstrong'a position is better than Kidwell's???? One actual ISSUE???? Not personality, ISSUE.

You sound like those who refused to vote for Trump due to his personality, even though they agreed with him on the issues. People thinking that way gave us Biden. Were you one of them?

It's typical, the very first responce to your "rhetoric" fails to mention any facts, court cases, etc...to refute the points you made. The best arguement made in the opening salvo is that you are a "hater", so tired of hearing that trivial responce.

No respect at all for Holder. And I challenge anyone to give 2 examples (that haven't been overturned by the courts)of anything his DOJ has done that showed his respect for the Constitution being applied fairly and equitably to everyone. (And please don't mention Bush or Cheney in a feable attempt to your opinion)
