Voter Fraud | Eastern NC Now

There are two camps on voter fraud, those who see fraud as an advantage and those who see it as a dis-advantage.

ENCNow
There are two camps on voter fraud, those who see fraud as an advantage and those who see it as a dis-advantage. The vote in a democracy is the most valuable government benefit a citizen has. Voter fraud simply means someone is stealing your possession. Therefore, the only way to guarantee the value of the possession is to make sure it is not stolen or illegally used. Sounds like we are all in agreement up until now. So, why would anyone not want to have voter identification. Simply because they see an advantage at the polls in illegal votes.

We have heard all the arguments about why voter identification is not needed. None of them fly. The most recent con game is to say studies have shown the impact of voter fraud is so low that this is a non issue and we should not worry about it. Turn that argument around. If it is a non issue why are some fighting so hard against identifying voters. They should be relaxed and watch me frustrate myself trying to find fraud. Common sense tells you that I will eventually come around to their way of thinking if there is no voter fraud, right.

Truth of the mater is we do not have enough data to prove the impact of voter fraud. Only those who are rigging elections with fraud know and they are not about to tell anyone. They are also not about to give up telling us how dumb we are about the voter fraud issue. It all makes me suspicious—how about you?

You and I are diametrically opposed on this issue.

Voter fraud is real, and chips away at the structural foundation of this Democratic Republic, which must persevere for there ever to be freedom in this land, and possibly all others.

Much of this great country is currently embroiled in the Voter Photo-ID question, an issue that could easily decide the results of a close election. I grew up believing that the United States was founded on certain principles that set it apart from the rest of the nations of the world. In addition to our basic rights, two of these principles stand out above the rest. The first of these tenets i...s that a person accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and the second is the right of all citizens to vote in free elections.

It has often been said that it is better to let 1,000 guilty parties go free than convict a single innocent person. Using the same premise with regard to elections, isn't it better to allow a dozen voters without IDs to cast ballots than to deny even a single person who is otherwise entitled to vote? If we are to err on this issue it should be on the side of over-inclusion, and not unjust exclusion.
