While Roy cooper clings to his 6 foot social distancing science fiction, real scientists are saying that there is no scientific basis for that rule. Two Oxford University professors from Oxford's Centre for Evidence Based Medicine, Carl Heneghen, who is director of that center and Tom Jefferson, a research associate, have written an article for a major British newspaper saying that research does not support the 6 foot rule,

Professors Heneghen and Jefferson debunk the poorly conducted studies claiming that a 6 foot rule makes a difference and conclude: "What the evidence cannot say is that there is any measured distance that reduces your risk. The tendency to develop, interpret and report information confirming one's prior beliefs has distorted conventional methods for creating guidance based on the best available evidence "

Time to ditch Cooper's science fiction.
