Lt. Gov. Robinson blasts Roy Cooper EO on offshore wind

Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson, who by state law serves as chairman of the North Carolina Energy Policy Council, has blasted a new Executive Order from Governor Roy Cooper promoting erection of offshore wind turbines in North Carolina waters and setting up his own "task force" to bypass the established bi-partisan Energy Policy Council.  Cooper is pushing Biden and AOC's "Green New Deal" policies and wants massive development of offshore wind turbines off the NC coast.

"Governor Cooper attempts to commit North Carolina to a future dependent upon unreliable, outrageously expensive, environmentally suspect, and socially irresponsible offshore wind power.", Robinson declared.  He cited estimates of the federal Energy Information Administration that offshore wind placed in production in 2025 will cost $122.25 per Megawatt/hour compared to gas fired power facilities placed in service the same year at $38.07.  Actual contracts that have already been signed have shown an even larger difference in cost.  Robinson also pointed to damage to the tourism and commercial fishing industries and threats to endangered species from the offshore wind turbines.
