School board drops mask requirement, hears presentation on CRT | Eastern NC Now

no action yet on Critical Race Theory

ENCNow

One of the two contentious issues facing the Beaufort County Board of Education was resolved at the board's work session this evening, and the board heard a presentation that will hopefully lead to action on the other.  The board voted to make Covid masks optional for students beginning Monday, in line with the wishes of many parents.

The board allowed ten minutes for the Citizens for Better Government to make a presentation on Critical Race Theory, and a two man delegation covered most of the bases on that issue.  The matter was not on the agenda for action, and citizens will have to watch to be sure the board moves forward to ban Critical Race Theory.
