Whatley seeking NCGOP chmn reelection with Tillis support | Eastern North Carolina Now

Controversial NCGOP chairman Michael Whatley has announced his bid for another term, bringing liberal Republican US Senator Thom Tillis (RINO-NC) to his press conference to support him.  Whatley has always been a Tillis Republican, with Tillis' wife very active in Whatley's first campaign.  Tillis himself is very controversial with GOP activists due to liberal positions he has taken on a varierty of issues, with many Republican county and district organizations passing censure resolutions against Tillis in the last few months, including the Beaufort County GOP and the 3rd Congressional District GOP.

One big concern is that Tillis is rumored to be posturing to run in the GOP primary for governor in 2024 and wants to have an ally running NCGOP headquarters during that primary, something Whatley would be.  This would be very disadvantageous to the two prominent conservatives expected to run for governor, Lt. Governor Mark Robinson and State Treasurer Dale Folwell.

Tillis is just awful. Whatley has now exposed himself as to who and what he really is. We need to defeat Tillis and we need to defeat Whatley.
