$2.2B available for Farmers, applications due by Oct. 31 | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

    Good afternoon,

I'm following up on the press release I sent you about the USDA's $2.2 billion program for farmers and ranchers who faced discrimination. We have an open office in Winnsboro to help farmers apply for USDA's Discrimination Financial Assistance Program by October 31.

I am personally reaching out to request your coverage so we can inform as many farmers and ranchers on how to apply. We invite you to visit our offices or attend one of our community outreach events. If you're crunched for time we can conduct virtual interviews and send you photos of events.

To provide you with more context about the program and its significance, please reference the below informative links:

    Information about DFAP:

    For reference about USDA Discrimination:

It's important for the future applicants to know that technical assistance for the program is free and available in-person, telephonically, or online at 22007apply.gov. Some predatory lawyers are lurking; farmers do not need them to apply.

Again, I would like to extend an invitation for you to visit the local office in Winnsboro. You'll have the opportunity to interview our dedicated Office Director and interact with applicants who have experienced the impact of the DFAP firsthand. This on-site experience could provide a unique perspective for your coverage.

Your dedication to informing the community is truly commendable. Let's collaborate on a compelling piece that highlights America's investment in agriculture producers.

    Best regards,
