Panthers are Super Bowl Bound | Eastern North Carolina Now

My favorite professional football team, the Carolina Panthers, have just defeated the Arizona Cardinals 49 to 15, and will be headed to the 50th Super Bowl as champions of the National Football Conference. 50th Super Bowl ... has it been that many? I can still remember the Green Bay Packers dismantling the Oakland Raiders of the American Football League; like it was ... maybe 40 years ago. Has it really been 50 of these extravaganzas?

The Arizona Cardinals were never really in contention against Carolina, with the Panthers Defense pressuring Pro Bowl quarterback, Carson Palmer all game, causing him to fumble twice and throw 4 interceptions. Panther Quarterback Cam Newton, after a sluggish second quarter, after a fantastic first quarter, returned to the fantastic in the second half, and had an All Pro game throwing for 335 yards on 28 attempts; two TD passes, and rushing for 2 touchdowns. Cam did what it took to win the game, and win big he/they did.

In two weeks, The Panthers will be playing American Football Conference champion, the Denver Broncos, in Santa Clara California - the high tech home of the San Francisco 49ers. This Super Bowl 50 will be the second appearance for the Panthers and the 8th for Denver Broncos. Two great defenses, and two tall quarterbacks, one young, Cam, and one much older, Peyton Manning, will be on display. It should be a hard fought, hard hitting game. Hope to see you there ... or as far as your HD television will take you.
