    Margaret Hawley Moore peacefully passed away Saturday September 11th, 2021 in her home in Washington, NC. She was born on October 3rd, 1931 in Council, NC. Margaret "Peggy" as known by her loved ones, is survived by her son Charles Joyce Moore Jr., (Merritt Island, FL) and daughter Susan Moore Piercy and son-in-law Jerry Piercy (Raleigh, NC). She is also survived by granddaughter's Katherine Leigh Piercy (Raleigh, NC) and Melanie Rae Piercy (Raleigh, NC). Preceding her in death is her beloved husband of 68 years, Charles Joyce Moore Sr. of Washington NC and father and mother, Herbert L. and Glennie B. Hawley of Fayetteville, NC.

    Peggy lived a full life, from her childhood in Fayetteville, NC to her years at Peace Women's College in Raleigh, NC where she met her husband Charles Moore. Charles career with the Hartford took them throughout the East Coast, spending time in the Carolina's where they had their two children in Charlotte, NC and eventually moved to Altamonte Springs, FL and Simsbury, CT. Peggy had a love for beauty and business, she opened her first Merle Norman store in Simsbury, CT. Eventually, the two retired to Washington, NC where they could spend time travelling with The Friendship Force, golfing at the Washington Yacht and Country Club, oil painting and enjoying the use of the Pamlico River through their love of boating. Peggy had a love for people and talking, always the entertainer she spent much of her life dedicated to serving her community whether that was through the St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Daughter's of the American Revolution, The Junior League, and local Supper and Book Clubs, there was never a dull moment. But her greatest joy was being able to spend time with her children, grandchildren and close friends and family members.

    A visitation for friends and family will be held Friday, September 17th from 5-7 pm at Paul Funeral Home in Washington, NC. On Saturday, September 18th a funeral service will be held at 11 am at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, burial ceremony to follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will see relatives and friends immediately following at the house in Washington, NC.
