    Constitution Class is Huge Success

Seventy-six people convened at Harvest Church on Saturday, September 18th for an all day study of the U. S. Constitution called "The Making of America". "The People" were there from Beaufort and Pitt counties all hungry for information that would increase their knowledge of our founding documents and how they apply to today's political events and issues. And all went away well fed by our presenter from Maine, Dana Dyer. One comment from one attendee that I overheard was, "I wish it could have been longer. The eight hours just flew by."

Dana Dyer's presentation convinced the appreciative audience that the principles of liberty need to be understood by "We the People" if "the people" hope to retain freedom and have the necessary knowledge to hold our elected representatives accountable. The day started at 8:00 a.m. before the seminar began with a short, twenty minute celebration of the 223rd birthday of the Constitution signing on September 17, 1787. The flag ceremony, the presentation of colours, by the Washington High School JROTC was followed with prayer offered by David Worth. The National Anthem was sung by Mike Isbell. Jeff Lewis gave an inspiring tribute to the Founding Fathers. Then the seminar began at 8:30 a.m. After a lunch break Pam Carson spoke a few words about the need for teaching the Constitution in the schools, and then sang two inspiring patriotic numbers. The seminar ended at 5:00 p.m., an educational experience that was well worth giving up a Saturday to attend.
