Charlottesville War on History destroys monument to Revolutionary War general | Eastern NC Now

attack on history is much broader than Confederate monuments

ENCNow

The far left's War on History is much broader than just Confederate historical monuments, and Charlottesville, Va. is a prime example of that.  Not only did the Peoples Republic of Charlottesville destroy monuments paid for by local citizens year ago of General Robert E. Lee and General "Stonewall" Jackson, but they also removed monuments to other historical figures. Both the city government and UVA have been involved in desecrating monuments there.

One monument removed by the far left in Charlottesville, Va. was to Revolutionary War Brigadier General George Rogers Clark, whose victories against the British secured the midwestern region for the new United States.  The site of the monument is to be replaced by a park dedicated to Indian tribes.  Another removed monument was to western explorers Lewis and Clark (unrelated to Gen. Clark).  Even a statue of President Thomas Jefferson, who founded UVA is under threat although it is so far still standing.

One bright spot is that the statue of General Lee on horseback is in the process of being duplicated by the Sons of Confederate Veterans and will be placed in a memorial park on land owned by the SCV on a major interstate highway near Charlottesville.
