Cycle NC Final Details | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

The Washington Tourism Development Authority is making the final preparations for the Cycle NC Spring Ride and arrival of more than 1100 cyclists This Weekend!

Here are few reminders we wanted to share with you and your stakeholder organizations.

    1) Please remember to SHARE THE ROAD this weekend. Cyclists will be riding on rural routes throughout Beaufort County on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Our #1 priority is the safety of the cyclists.

    2) Many of the 1100+ cyclists haven't visited our community before. Be sure to welcome them and offer them some true BoCo hospitality!

    3) The first wave of participants will begin arriving on Thursday. We expect about 40% of the cyclists will register that evening, with the remainder arriving on Friday.

    4) Volunteers are still needed for several of the rest stop locations. Volunteers simply need to show up, all necessary supplies are provided by Cycle NC. Help is needed as follows: Acre Station Meat Farm (Friday), Grimesland Park (Sunday), Belhaven Chamber of Commerce (Saturday), and Aurora Fossil Museum (Sunday). Volunteers may call (252) 948-9415 ext 2.

    5) There is still an opportunity for a non-profit group to host a successful fundraiser this weekend. Many of the cyclists will be camping on the waterfront. If you or your group is interested in serving breakfast (coffee, biscuits, eggs, sausage, etc.) PLEASE CALL US! The cyclists love to support local charities and will be delighted to have breakfast at the campsite (or civic center if you need a kitchen). If interested, call (252) 948-9415 ext 2.
Out of town cyclists have long been welcome in Washington, NC and Beaufort County. Here is a photo from the F Series triathlon held last July, 2011: Above.     image by Stan Deatherage
