Audubon Society sues to stop wind turbines in California | Eastern NC Now

turbines are killing birds and bats including eagles

ENCNow

The National Audubon Society has filed its first lawsuit challenging a wind farm project over the slaughter of birds and bats.  Such suits  by environmental groups against wind farm projects to stop wind turbines being built have become very common in Germany, where they are usually successful.

This lawsuit is directed against a newly approved wind farm project in the Altamont Pass area of California.  Existing wind turbines there already kill 4,700 birds a year including about 100 eagles.

Wind project developers have been notorious for buying off wildlife groups by making large contributions to them, but apparently some are standing up off the slaughter of birds.  President Trump cited the large scale slaughter of birds as one of his reasons for opposing wind farms.
