Every now and then I come across a story that reaches into my heart and tugs and tugs and tugs. This one of those stories. During this pandemic we've seen government, private enterprise, and average Janes and Joes band together to do what needs to be done. I'll leave for another time my concerns and disagreements about how Gov. Cooper has used emergency powers.

Right now, I want to share with you the power that comes, not from government, but from volunteers and an incredible organization — Samaritan's Purse right here in North Carolina. The photo I've posted above can be found on the Samaritan's Purse website. It shows what's occurring inside 11 white tents.

The Associated Press documents the story in the video below, beginning outside the hospital in Lenoir, North Carolina. It tells the power of caring hearts and healing hands.

And it makes me face up to this question: What have I done, and what can I do, to help another person?
