Vineyard Wind project would devastate fishing grounds

ENCNow

A Texas-based conservative public policy law institute has filed a lawsuit in federal court to stop construction of the Vineyard Wind energy project off of southern New England.  Six commercial fishing companies from three states are serving as plaintiffs, and they allege that the wind turbines slated to be built in prime fishing grounds would seriously damage commercial fishing there.

Even the Bureau of Offshore Energy Management (BOEM), a federal agency that permitted the project, admits that the entire 75,000 acre project site would likely have to be abandoned by commercial fishermen due to the hazards to navigation presented by the wind turbines.  The lawsuit charges that BOEM has failed to follow normal procedures to safeguard the environment in their rush to approve offshore wind projects.

NC Governor Roy Cooper loves offshore wind, and this threat is likely to raise its ugly head for NC's own commercial fishermen.  That is especially true since the RINOs in the legislature approved Cooper's Green New Deal for North Carolina, HB951.
