Brunswick County School Board bans Critical Race Theory

The Board of Education of North Carolina's Brunswick County has voted unanimously to ban Critical Race Theory and the 1619 Project from county schools.  This comes as the state Board of Education voted by a narrow margin to impose a new Social Studies curriculum that embraces elements of both Critical Race Theory and the 1619 Project.  The policy to ban these theories came after parents spoke against indoctrination of their children.

“It’s very upsetting to me to know that our children are being indoctrinated,” said School Board member Robin Moffitt. “My heart was pounding when you guys were talking. I don’t agree with it. I don’t think anybody should be made to feel different for the color of their skin, whether you’re white, black, brown, or yellow.”
