Iowa Dems push "GOPers for a day" scheme to tilt caucuses toward Haley | Eastern NC Now

urge Dem activists to switch for one day and "hold their nose for Haley" to hurt Trump

ENCNow

Iowa Democrats have a new scheme to try to hurt Trump by having their activists switch party registration for one day to attend the Republican caucuses and "hold their nose for Haley".  The liberal Axios news service has broken the story of this scheme by Democrats.  They figure the easiest way to hurt Trump and bring in a lot of "fake" Haley votes from Democrat activists.  They urge their supporters to become "Republicans for a day".

Since Democrats cancelled their own in-person caucuses this year as part of the national strategy to deny candidates other than BIden any opportunity to get traction in the nomination process, this could potentially generate significant numbers of fake GOP participants in the Iowa caucus.

While is clearly the closest thing to a Democrat still running on the GOP side, the leaders of this campaign make it clear they are not Haley supporters for the general election but loyal Democrats just trying to hurt Trump.  It is a similar strategy as Rush Limbaugh's Operation Chaos which urged Republicans to monkey around in Democrat primaries.

Nikky and Ron are losers because every voter sees them as weak. They can't criticize the front runner. I get why. Nobody wants their house burned down and that's exactly what MAGA would do. But if you cant stand up to Orange boy, how could you be president?

Nikki Haley is not doing herself any favors at this point.

Now we are finding out where that Haley vote came from. The one county in the state of Iowa she carried had so many "Republicans for a day" temporarily switching to "hold their nose for Haley" to try to hurt Trump that they ran out of party switch forms on caucus night. www.thegatewaypundit.com

Now the process heads to New Hampshire which has an open primary where Democrats do not even have to temporarily switch their registration to meddle in the Republican primary and Biden is not even on the ballot on the Democrat side. Likely another gold mine of fake "Republican" votes for Haley from people who have absolutely no intent to vote for any Reublican in November.

I wonder how many of those third place Iowa votes Haley got came from partisan Democrats trying to skew the GOP caucuses against Trump? Haley is a globalist RINO.

Even with the Democrats open help, Haley only ran third, and Trump scored by far the biggest Iowa win of any GOP candidate ever. I agree with Senator Rand Paul - NEVER HALEY.

Politics and dirty tricks. Shocking

This is hardly the first time that the Democrats have done this dirty trick to interfere in the Republican nomination process, and probably will not be the last. The media usually tries to sweep it under the rug.

That said, Republicans need to do more to protect our nomination process. In North Carolina, we have a cut off date for registering Republican prior to our conventions and for all parties, prior to filing for office. No one can swith for a day to play games. They can however register Unaffiliated to vote in our primaries if they do it early enough, and many GOP activists object to that and want to close that loophole.

Iowa needs a cut off date, no later than January 1 to be registered Republican to participate in the caucus, and probably more like December 1 to make this Democrat mischief harder to set up. Also, early primary states like New Hampshire and South Carolian need to close their primaries to only Republicans, and the RNC rules need to set major penalties if they do not.

In 2008, McCain got the momentum out of open primary states New Hampshire and South Carolina to get enough of a lead of the pack to capture the nomination. Exit polls showed, however, if only Republicans had been voting, McCain would have lost both states and we would likely have had a different nominee. That is the huge difference that opening or closing a primary can make to the outcome of a campaign. McCain proved a useless nominee on economic issues, which became the election key in the Fall. A different nominee would have probably beaten Obama and saved the country from a lot of nonsense like Obamacare and the Iran deal.
