I love seeing all of the leaked content coming out, and watching the socialists in office and the media trying to gather themselves and react quickly. The more public this information becomes, the closer we come to saving this country from the abyss Obama and Clinton are pushing us towards. |

I think there is a decent argument to be made that nonfactual 'news' stories swayed the election, and both sides were taking part in this propaganda method (as for whom was worse, you draw your own conclusions.) I do not think that Facebook and Google are talking about the articles written by puppet journalists for the Clinton Foundation, the manufactured crises, or general misinformation which happens to help reinforce their political stances. That is what I find unsettling. Another thing I find unsettling is that people are getting news from memes, but that's another tragedy.

I can't remember if I ever posted this, but I remember writing once that my original plan was for my writing to particularly focus on the first amendment. Then I realized that by government (and partially citizen) infringement on other rights, the first amendment will crumble along with the others. Would you speak against government corruption if the eye of Big Brother were constantly staring down at you? In the wake of various power grabs (beaufortcountynow.com), I broadened it significantly because I didn't feel it was being discussed enough (yes, including the "conservative media.") |

First, let me acknowledge that the roles of County Commissioners and School Board Members are not easy. When done well, these positions require dedication, thoughtful decision-making, and hard work. Thank you to all who serve and help keep the county functioning as smoothly as possible.
That said, there is a quadrant of this county, the third largest of six townships and the fourth most populated, that is the source of the most local income and tax revenue and includes multiple communities and an incorporated town, that is now functioning worse from the decision of the School Board. This area and its school district are now destabilized. The elementary school and the people it served were not considered important enough for elected officials to explore reasonable alternatives before removing the school from an entire township community. Consolidation has been ongoing for over a century. For the first 50 years, and during the 60s and 70s desegregation, it made sense. But as it has become more centralized, it increasingly fails to serve the unique needs of local elementary aged children, especially in remote communities like Aurora when viewed through the lens of child well being. Despite the education and experience among Board Members, the emphasis was less on children than on balancing the county’s overall education budget at the expense of one of its most underserved and remote school populations. Instead of lobbying for more resources to meet the actual needs, the Board chose to close the least visible school. We’re hearing from families now forced to relocate, change jobs, or cancel their plans to move into the area. Others, who just moved here before the closure decision, are scrambling to figure out how to manage their children’s schooling and their family’s stability. Busing small children for long hours each day should have been reason enough to reconsider. But the impact goes beyond logistics; this decision is dismantling a community one family at a time. Had proper impact studies been conducted, as required by state policy, the Board would have likely seen this coming. But for most Board members, this isn’t your district, and these aren’t your families being affected. While I don’t believe the decision was made with malice, I do believe that if this were your children, your school, and your community on the line, you and others would have made a different choice. |

It is inconceivable to me that our local governments do not seek applicants for top management positions from the private sector. When I served in the Jim Martin administration in state government, almost all of our top management personal got their management experience in the private sector, NOT the public sector, and it worked fine. The bigger the pool of applicants for a local management job, the more choices the governing body has.

Gore was not the first to resurrect and politically weaponize the old CO2 climate theory. That first happened in the UK.
The CO2 global warming theory was put forward by a Swedish physicist in the 1890s but never got much traction in climate science. Mainstream climate science looked at known climate history which followed alternating multi-century cycles of warming and cooling, CO2 and greenhouse gases were not a factor in those cycles. In the early 1970s, a British science magazine, the "New Scientist" published an article that mentioned this then discredited and mostly forgotten CO2 climate theory. That got the attention of an advisor to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who was then in major battles with the Marxist coal miners union and with Arab oil sheiks. Her government was pushing nuclear power as an alternative and saw this theory as something they could use for that purpose. They put out a bunch of government grant money for "science" that promoted this CO2 theory and found enough hungry scientists to jump on that grant money and give them the "science" they needed to resurrect the theory and play it in the media. After Thatcher got what milage she could out of this revived theory to promote her nuclear power program, others picked it up for their own political purposes, not only Al Gore, but also the UN hierarchy.. |
