Thanks for the comments and thanks to Stan for the automatic notification when someone comments on one of my older articles. At 77 years old, I realize that I am probably far out of touch with the various local venues for aspiring entertainers, but I can’t help but wonder if there are still troubadours touring the country in small bars, VFW clubs, or Bowling Alley entertainment rooms. My time on the beer trail was full of such joints. It was a time when entertainers drove in cars, Greyhound, or trains, or parhaps with a guitar strapped over their shoulder and a thumb in the air from town to town honing their talent. Many never made it to stardom but a few like those mentioned in the comments did and we are all the better for it. As Stan said, Gordon created songs that will never be forgotten until we too pass. There are those who say, like the old blues singers, you can’t write a sad or inspirational song until you have lived a sad or inspirational life. I don’t know if that is true but thank God that these songs were written.
Thanks also to Andrea Hayward Nickerson for your parent’s participation in those days of yore. Atlanta is a city that doesn’t hold much to maintaining historical buildings. I have not been by the old Bistro site in years, but I do occasionally visit The Varsity -1928- which is not far from there. I will be sure to drive by and see what a atrocity has been built on that lot.

I received a private message with some corrections to this article. See Below: Thanks to Sharon Powel for this correction. I have removed her Email Address for privacy reasons.

Hi, Bobby!
I just ran across this article by you , and wish to thank you! There are, however some discrepancies that I would love to let you know about. I know that you don't won't be editing this article, but, I have spent many, many years straightening out misunderstandings on behalf of the Hall's actual owners. The club was never owned by Jack Tarver, but he did run the club under a management contract, as did Alex Cooley prior to Jack's tenure. The owners' names are Robert Dulong, and Maurice Ehrlich. Bob is still around, but Mo passed away a couple of years ago.
The reason we closed was that Broadview Plaza was bought by a development company which determined that a disco would be better placed in our location and did not renew our lease. We had to scramble to find a new location, and we staff members worked hard to get us moved. I would be happy to help with any future articles, or to answer any questions you may have.

Sharon Powell

These lousy Obama judges, and Biden judges, care nothing about Americans or about the law, only about their own party's far left ideology and pandering to illegal aliens. We need a quick way to take them all out of office. Maybe they should all be indicted for treason?

Anti-immigration parties now lead in the polls in Austria, Australia, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, and France, as well as leading the current governments of Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Belgium. It will still be a near run thing to reverse the takeover of Europe by Third World migrants.

Great news! Paxton is a champion for robust enforcement of our immigration laws, and has used the powers of the state AG to further that cause. Cornyn is a worm and an amnesty whore who had quit showing up at GOP conventions after delegates to a state Republican convention loudly booed him for his awful immigration positions.

Dr. Penders,

It seems you are playing a dishonest game of semantics, because I’m sure you know the definition of integrity: “a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcomes.” Despite what you say, obviously, you were questioning my father's integrity by saying in your letter to Mr. Richardson, "Apparently Stan does not believe that he is accountable to the voters." Again, you questioned his integrity, in your comment below, by saying that you were attacking my father’s 'responsiveness,' 'reasonableness,' and 'objectivity.' It scares me a little that you would try to manipulate a fact pertaining to your own behavior; since, in your profession, you are trusted to help rearrange the thoughts and behaviors of others. Just admit it: You were questioning his integrity; and, now, I’m questioning yours.

Unbelievable, isn’t it? McCrory has named his HHS secretary but has not made up his mind about establishing a state health insurance exchange, a vital component of the impending ObamaCare nightmare.

Gov. Pat should take some time to get briefed by South Carolina’s Nikki Haley, Tennessee’s Bill Haslam, and Virginia’s Bob McDonnell. They ALL campaigned for him in the general election and are ALL refusing to establish state health care exchanges within their borders.
I’ve heard some whining from within Raleigh’s “conservative revolution” that — if we try to block the exchange — we will lose any kind of influence over how the exchange will be managed. Really? SC, TN and VA don’t seem too worried about it. Neither do the 32 other states refusing to establish the exchanges. Only 15 states so far have agreed to set up a health care exchange. All kinds of health care analysts have opined that the ObamaCare scheme will collapse if an overwhelming majority of states refuses to set up an exchange.

This smells like surrender before the first shots have even been fired.

A 45-year Cold War, and the end of the Soviet Union has not ended the argument for and against communism in the United States. While leftist groups continue to honor the communist holiday (May Day), the state of Florida has approved a new history of communism standards in their public schools. Back and forth we go.

The Florida standards emphasize how communist ideologies have historically suppressed individual freedoms, abused powers, and inflicted widespread suffering. The left-wing groups avoid direct dealings with both history and ideology. They focus on issues of pay, unionized collective bargaining, taxing "the rich," political redistricting, and non-enforcement of immigration law advocacy. They use an indirect approach that is ultimately very ideological.

I personally do not fear an honest debate of the subject in all arenas, including our public schools, as long as the conversation uses high scholastic standards. Methods used in political arguments should not be relied on in institutions of learning. Things that are true and proven enlighten in a way sophistry cannot duplicate.

Thanks for the great breakdown of how all this works. The general public really needs to know about the processes and structures of politics. Your mention of the term "low information voter" was appropriate.

The more we know the less likely it is for us to be led around by the nose. An informed public makes less mistakes. In this confusing world we need every edge we can get. How involved people choose to get involved in all of this is up to them. I believe everyone should at least vote, but I also believe everyone should understand how all this works before they do.

This seems like what they wanted all along. Eric Adams is just another puppet in their game. Where is the accountability for these so called "leaders" in 2020 that said to mask up and keep a distance. They scared us from interacting with one another and sharing our own experiences. More than ever people are waking up to this plan. Their cover-up will get them caught and expose them for who they really work for.

"The Flyer"

Is GOP intruding into local or state and national primaries?

Are they recruiting and supporting newly switched Democrats and opportunist RINOs to run against conservative incumbents and principled new candidates?

Are they running Decoy Candidates so as to manipulate elections and place their puppets?

Is Vice Chairman Wayne King the acting henchman? And for whom?
[Sen Rucho? Rep Tillis?]

In this picture Dan Gerlach is fourth from right who was Gov Easley's Finance Director and was then appointed President of the Golden Leaf Foundation. Golden Leaf funds came from the NC Tobacco Settlement which “shall promote the social welfare and lessen the burdens of government [by using its funds] to provide economic impact assistance to economically affected or tobacco-dependent regions of North Carolina in accordance with the Consent Decree [between the state of North Carolina and cigarette manufacturers].”
Guess what? NOT It's simply a political slush fund and another vote buying tool. Don Carrington of the Carolina Journal has several reports available. The latest:
www.carolinajournal.com. Wonder if fmr Rep Arthur Williams is aware of that?

Dority, you and NCGOP played us Repub types for fools - and successfully too. I hope you're happy with your decision and that whatever you were promised makes you happy.

Who would have ever thought you'd be a candidate decoy for not only State Auditor but for Secretary of State too? Who, would have ever thought you would betray and cheat on us? Have you become so in need of what they can give -- so desperately in need?

From henceforth please consider yourself a newly made and not so honorable member of the Rancid Republican Ranks.

Please say hello to Wayne King, Shu, Stew and Rosser for us. Heck, maybe Bill Tarpening and Ashley Woolard will let you join them in supporting Arthur Williams and further corrupting what was once the party of principle and Laissez Fair representation. But then maybe that deal is already done.
