Insurance exec: deaths among 18-64s up 40% | Eastern NC Now

Most are not Covid-related

The CEO of Indianapolis-based OneAmerica Insurance, a life insurance company that dates back to 1877, has revealed that its statistics show that overall deaths of working age people, those between 18 and 64, are up 40% compared to pre-pandemic levels.  Most of those excess deaths are not related to Covid disease itself.  CEO Scott Davison  called it "the highest death rates we have seen in the history of this business" and that the death spike started in the third quarter of 2021 and is continuing into the fourth quarter.  Davison said his company was also seeing an "uptick" in disability claims.  Davison made his comments at a press conference organized by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

The timing of this does not seem to correspond with waves of Covid itself.  Although the vaccines were not mentioned, it would appear that they would be a prime suspect, especially since most Covid deaths are among the elderly, not among working age people.
