I'll try to put together an Equal Protection overview. Meanwhile, this paper (papers.ssrn.com) serves as a good primer on some of the other arguments likely to be made by anti-deportation activists (e.g., preemption of local action by federal regulation).

A post by a friend of mine...
Dr. Seuss-2011 I do not like this Uncle Sam, I do not like his health care scam. I do not like these dirty crooks, or how they lie and cook the books. I do not like when Congress steals, I do not like their secret deals. I do not like ex-speaker Nan, I do not like this YES WE CAN. I do not like this spending spree, I'm smart, I know that nothing's free. I do not like their smug replies, when I complain about their lies. I do not like this kind of hope. I do not like it. Commented On Beaufort County Commissioners Vote 5 to 2 in Support of Governor Perdue on her Veto of Photo ID for Elections
Requiring photo identification would without a doubt eliminate the various forms of voter fraud. People would no longer be able to vote multiple times using false identities as well as the stated issue of illegal immigrants. My question is why would you want to prevent a flawed system to be remedied? If a politician want votes so desperately, that they don't care how the race is won, then they shouldn't be running, much less elected. Which goes to show how confident they must be are in themselves and what they "stand for".

Commented On Fancy waterfront vs drivable roads in Washington NC
Dear Mr. Pyle,
Thank you for your input. It is always a pleasure to hear from any concerned citizen about our town. Our organization is made up of volunteers, who like yourself want to see a better Washington in the future. I can’t speak for the City of Washington but would like to clarify this issue. I believe most of the roads you mentioned are state roads (except for Hackney). Funds for road improvements would be done by NCDOT. I would suggest you address your concerns with them too. Commented On My yearly Medical exam – A new Medicare benefit
Went to get my yearly inspection the other day. Nurse checked my weight, height, checked my BP, eye sight, took a blood sample, and had me check my aim by peeing in a tiny little cup, then went to wait for the doctor. Doc comes in, listens to my thumpin gizzard, taps on my back while I am inhaling and exhaling, assaulted my arthritic knees with a rubber mallet and then asked if I was still on my diet.
ME: YEP. WHY? DOC: YOURE NOT LOSING ANY MORE WEIGHT. WHAT DID YOU HAVE FOR BREAKFAST? ME: 5 EGGS. DOCTOR: UH...DONT YOU THINK THAT WAS A BIT MUCH? ME: NO. YOU SAID EGGS WERE GOOD FOR MY DIET. DOCTOR: WELL, THATS A LOT. WERE THEY FRIED, SCRAMBLED, POACHED, OR BOILED? ME: CADBURYS. |

Commented On QUESTION: Do you believe our country is irreparably divided between two competing and non-overlapping ideologies?
Mr. Hickman, I believe completely in what I wrote. I believe we are in danger of losing our once well-intentioned country to a growing group of racist Marxists. And you are right, as I pointed out... what is at stake is the loss of our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, and our Declaration of Independence. How many times have you heard Democrats (AOC and even Pelosi) say things like "We've outgrown the Constitution"? OR "The Constitution is racist"? OR "The Constitution is meaningless for these times"? These demons mean business and they won't rest until all our founding institutions, such as the Church, family, education, morality, the grand notions of work and work ethic, unity of Americans, love of country, and the essential principle of personal responsibility, are abolished, destroyed, or undermined. Personal responsibility, the family, and work ethic have already been replaced by the enlargement of social welfare services and government healthcare. The Church has already been replaced by the God who supports abortions, hatred, riots, violence, and property damage, and education has been replaced by Critical Race Theory and other racist and divisive ideologies (Education has been replaced by indoctrination). Unity and love of country has been replaced by racism (intentionally resurrected by the Democrats for political and agenda purposes. These left-wing hijackers are using the very freedoms articulated and secured for us by our Founding Fathers (in the Declaration, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution) to destroy those very rights. If they succeed in destroying our founding documents, then guess what? They destroy the very foundation of the American states and the American union. It will no longer be assumed that individuals have inalienable rights and other essential liberty and civil rights. And that will be the day the government truly and completely (and tyrannically) controls and subjugates us. Patrick Henry said something similar in his "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech in Richmond back in 1775. (Everyone should read it in its entirety!) The sad thing is that the left are too stupid and too detached from reality to comprehend the consequences of their actions. Thanks again, Charles.

It's typical, the very first responce to your "rhetoric" fails to mention any facts, court cases, etc...to refute the points you made. The best arguement made in the opening salvo is that you are a "hater", so tired of hearing that trivial responce.

This truly amazes me. No feelings of unfairness towards the average American citizen and the audacity to complain as a Staffer that it is unfair to be covered by the Health Care bill. Justice prevails in small doses ....now Obama and the Congress need to step up to the plate. Obama, his Cabinet, Czars, and staffers should by law be covered by the Health Care bill.

Commented On An Educated Voter is an Asset to Beaufort County
Actual numbers aren’t important to most voters, like Mr. Taylor stated, so let me state my position differently. The waste I plan on cutting for the Sheriff’s Office is everything that doesn’t work – everything that does not protect property and lives of our citizens, and that which hinders deputy performance.
I intend on setting policy in place to correct any issues deputies may have dealing with the public or other agencies in Beaufort County. I will encourage deputies to work with the Police and Highway Patrol to create a safe environment for everyone. My opponent thinks that he can bully and twist the truth to gain votes, again I ask the public to consider his record. He has proved himself to be many things, but a businessman he is not, nor an honest man. Voting starts in four days. Correct problems in our county, vote Donald Dixon for Sheriff. |

Commented On Is Our Country in the Crapper?
Ms. Rufino has given us a great analogy to frame the debate of the role of the federal government. She has also given us a great reason why the Tea Party movement is fading quickly as an ideology. The role of parenthood is clear: to raise our children to be independent, productive individuals in our society. Being a responsible parent requires that we instill in our children a sense of responsibility for themselves and those around them. Children cannot and do not learn these traits on their own. The reality is that we give them everything they need to develop. Inherent in that role is a balance to be played as the child grows older; the growing child must understand the boundaries that society and civility place on them. If there are no effective and defined boundaries, then unbridled freedom becomes anarchy very quickly. The government is not our parent. However, I would suggest that as our society continues to evolve in directions our founders could never have fathomed, effective governance becomes more and more critical to our ability to move forward as a nation.

Another aspect of these protest movements from the left is that they are trying to relive the 60's. The slogans are the same, the angst is the same, and the lack of employment is the same.

Commented On WWLD: "Occupy Wall Street" - it's their job
As a liberal and former protester, I find Stan's comments to be spot on. The only thing that I would add is that protesters in general-- left wing or right wing-- are typically filled with folks that have entirely too much time on their hands and read way too much of writings that agree with their own ideological perspective. One of my favorite professors at UMASS was a lead scholar at the conservative think-tank, The American Enterprise Institute. His advice to me was to, "always be careful of overstating issues. Overreaction makes you look silly." That hit me hard back then; it remains true today.
